I would not say that wound photography is considered Standard of Care/Best Practice. In fact the WOCN and the NPUAP neither recommends nor discourages the use of photography. If used, it is to be an adjunct to wound assessment and documentation and not in place of documentation.
If you do decide to use photography, there should be a clear policy in place to define informed consent, what wounds to photograph, the frequency of photography, who can photograph, and how the photo should be labeled and stored.
Both the WOCN and NPUAP have documents that can offer you some guidelines.
