Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse?

Advice for those wanting to become wound, ostomy, continence nurses


  • Check with your facility on the qualifications they will accept
  • ​F.A.E.T. encourages Baccalaureate prepared Registered Nurses to become certified in one or more scope of practice through the WOCN (Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse) Society.  Education can be online or in person.  See Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Society website for more information and a list of approved education providers.
  • Many of our members can offer preceptor experience. Contact the Membership Secretary at membership@faet.org to find a preceptor and/or mentor in your area.
  • ​Annually the F.A.E.T. offers scholarships for registered nurses pursuing Wound, Ostomy or Continence education.  See link below for information.  All applicants must be current members of F.A.E.T.
